- A dedicated home education programme: regular object-handling and outdoor learning workshops for different age groups each term, and Home Education Days twice a year (ages 5+). Home educated children aged 5–18 can also get educational-rate tickets for the Aquarium, Butterfly House and paid exhibitions at the Ticket Desk, Monday–Friday in term time, 10:00–15:00. Why we'd go
Free and very varied: the famous walrus, hands-on musical instruments, a small but much-loved aquarium, and 16 acres of gardens with an animal walk (alpacas, goats, sheep).
Watch out for
The aquarium and Butterfly House are paid extras. Weekends and holidays get busy and the café queues – go on a weekday and bring a picnic.
