Why we'd go
An 11-mile steam train ride through four period stations, with a museum and the hands-on SteamWorks exhibition at Sheffield Park. Horsted Keynes station is worth getting off for.
Watch out for
Book online ahead, arrive early for parking, and bring a picnic – station cafés can be a rush between trains. Check the timetable, as trains don't run every day.
