- Monthly Home Education Days with a different history theme each time: welcome activities, pre-booked hands-on workshops and crafts, and a 'museum detectives' trail round the buildings. Aimed at ages 4–13 with an accompanying adult. About £15 per ticket – check the booking page for who needs one. Tickets are non-refundable.

Why we'd go
Fifty acres of rescued historic buildings you can walk into, with farm animals, a working watermill where children can grind flour, and space to run about.
Watch out for
The site is spread out – allow four to six hours and expect small legs to tire. Mostly outdoors, so dress for the weather.
